What are your favorite lines from the Taxi sitcom (1978-1983)? Send 'em in and/or read mine, at the bottom of this posting...Tomorrow, from 12:45pm to 2:45, the Coachella Valley Taxi Owners Association (CVTOA) and Palm Springs Life celebrate Cab Drivers Appreciation Day in the Airport Transportation Building at Palm Springs International Airport.
This year's Taxi Operator of the Year is Bighorn Taxi, owned and operated by Michael Marchese. The People's Choice Awards go out to Bill Allen of Ace Taxi, Kevin Dumlar of A Valley Cabousine, Josh Baeza of Palm Springs Taxi, and James Braco of VIP Taxi and A Valley Cabousine.
CVTOA also announces its association with SafeHouse of the Desert, an organization that provides comprehensive support services for at-risk youth and those struggling with crisis situations. CVTOA is a nonprofit association that promotes and protects the taxi industry in the Coachella Valley. Palm Springs Life is published monthly by Desert Publications Inc., circulating 25,000 copies throughout the Coachella Valley and at select newsstands nationwide.
Finally, here's my favorite Taxi sequence, from "Reverend Jim" Ignatowski's written driving test:
Ignatowski (Christopher Lloyd): Pssssttt... what does the yellow light mean?
Wheeler (Jeff Conaway): "Slow down."
Ignatowski: What... does... the... yellow... light... mean?
Wheeler: "Slow down"!
Ignatowski: Whaaaat... dooooeeees... theeeee... yeeeel-looowwww... liiiiight... meeeeaaan?
