Views from the Film Festival

Last night I worked the filmmaker's party at "Crazy Bones" (above "The Chop House" in downtown Palm Springs) which was sponsored by "Women In Film." It was a sticky, humid evening and my fellow volunteers and I were certainly feeling the heat standing downstairs at the entrance! The array of food upstairs was fabulous and was still plentiful when I finally got to check it out at the end of my shift. There was bbq chicken, pepperoni stromboli, and lots of other interesting bite size morsels. They topped it off with a great dessert spread of mini berry tarts, fondue and cream puffs. Views from a volunteer at the film festival..

Hello! I'm in my fourth year as a volunteer with the Palm Springs International Festival of Short Films and I'd like to offer you a perspective of the festival from the inside. I'll be volunteering at three special event parties this year, two of them open to the public with pre-purchased tickets, and one is a private party for the filmmakers. I volunteer for this festival and the larger festival in the winter (the "big one" as people like to call it) and I have to admit that I prefer to work the "shorts." Generally, the filmmakers are not as famous, and they love to chat with anyone who will listen about their films. Jazz in the Pines 2007

Cool jazz with cool breezes in a beautiful pine meadow, that’s the setting for a super weekend in the mountain village of Idyllwild, home of Idyllwild Arts Academy.
