MODSQUAD = A trio of modern painters. February 16th- March 15th. JANSSENARTSPACE
In conjunction with the 2008 Palm Springs Modernism Week, Modsquad unveils the latest work of 3 abstract painters, Monica Fleming, Karen Herold and gallery owner Steven Janssen.
With these 3 forces combined, they tend on breaking all barriers and seeking out the truth on what it means to be an abstract painter in this modern day in age.
Opening Reception will be held on Saturday, February 16th 6-9pm at JANSSENARTSPACE.
Gallery artist, Monica Fleming's work is "about the process." While she is painting, the music she listens to has significant power over her artistic techniques. The emotions are evoked and incorporated into a composition.
The L.A. Times describes Karen Herold's work as "fluid webs of earthy colors". By laying down thinned brushstrokes, they seem to swim in and out of focus. The spatial ambiguity creates hot, shocking color.
Steven Janssen's latest work dives into a sensual world of free-form, resembling much of his earlier, signature style. Pulling the viewer in and dwelling on the mysterious ambiguity of vivid, organic, sensuality is his primary objective.
