The Arabian Desert is an extreme environment, featuring everything from red dunes to deadly quicksand.This vast wilderness (1 million square miles) occupies almost the entire Arabian Peninsula, stretching from Yemen to the Persian Gulf and Oman to Jordan and Iraq.
Much of its area consists of gravel plains and rocky highlands, but ΒΌ is the Rub al-Khali ("Empty Quarter"), the world's largest unbroken expanse of sand.
