The lobby design at Hard Rock Hotel Palm Springs has received kudos from Travel Weekly.

The mix of music memorabilia, the unique speaker design and brass drum cymbals marking the entryway resulted in a 2014 Gold Magellan Award.

Andy Carpiac, owner of Hard Rock Hotel Palm Springs, noted the work of Hard Rock International’s Senior Director of Hotel Development Jay Pecotte and designer Charles Doell, noting the interior design "speaks to the essence of music and the carefree spirit we should all experience when we visit a resort."

The Magellan Awards, which symbolize the best in the travel industry, recognize Hotels and Resorts, Travel Destinations, Cruise Lines, Online Travel Services, Airlines and Airports, Travel Agents and Agencies, Tour Operators and Car Rental Companies.

The judging panel for the Magellan Awards are travel professionals and industry leaders. Winners are not determined by competing against one another, but are judged against a standard of excellence set by Travel Weekly. Consequently, it's possible to have more than one winner in a category or none.

“People who enter the Magellans know they’re competing against a very talented and very creative group of individuals and agencies,” said Arnie Weissmann, editor-in-chief of Travel Weekly. “The travel industry marketers and designers who walked away with Magellan awards this year pushed themselves to new heights. When you look at the winning entries, you understand why consumers have been inspired to travel in numbers never seen before.”
