Get A Taste of Belgium At Pomme Frite

The mouth-watering dishes on the menu reflect the rich cuisine from Constant’s home country of Belgium.

“These are the specialties from Belgium.” Constant said. “I wanted to share them with the people of Palm Springs.”

Many of the foods featured in the restaurant were favorites of Constant’s growing up. Constant’s favorite dish on the menu?

“The mussels,” he said. “It’s a national dish in Belgium.”

It also happens to be a popular dish among the visitors at Pomme Frite. Customers can order the Steamer Pot of Mediterranean Mussels in six ways: Marinieres with white wine, leeks, shallots and celery; Provencales with tomatoes, garlic onions and bell peppers; with saffron cream; with garlic cream; mustard & cream or with blue cheese and cream; all are served with pommes frites.

For those who have never eaten at a French or Belgian restaurant before should not feel weary about what to order, Constant offers some suggestions: the Belgian Beef Carbonade “Flemish Style” which is a beef stew simmered in Belgian beer with onions and carrots; any of the seafood dishes and the Half a Chicken “Coq Au Vin” which is braised in red wine, bacon, mushrooms and pearl onion, all served with pommes frites.

Another entrée suggestion is any of the steak-frites. The choices of meat cuts are: the 8 ounce Choice Flat Iron Steak, 8 ounce Angus Beef Hanger steak, 8 ounce Prime Baseball Sirloin steak, duo of Fillet Mignon Medallions, 10 ounce New York Strip steak or the 18 ounce one in Angus Beef Bone in Rib Eye steak with the choice of butter maitre d’, blue cheese and cream, brandy-green peppercorn or red wine and shallots sauces; all served with a small green salad or sautéed French green beans and pommes frites.
