Dorothy Willetts, Principal of Willetts Design & Associates, based her dress design on Yoshimoto Nara’s Your Dog. Your Dog represents a dog’s dual nature both as a cuddly companion to children and a frightening creature who is often much larger that the child. "I have always been a fan of Yoshimoto’s ability to express a loss of innocence with just cartoon images and their underlying messages." The dress represents both girlish innocence and its loss to adult sexuality. The skirt is Lori Weitzner’s Newsworthy and Mist wallpapers, the top is Bergamo’s Mikado fabric, the belt is made from foam core and fabric, the trim is Samuel & Sons, and the pillbox hat is fabric from Kneedler Fauchere. |
